Hi, I’m Matt Craven
I’m a designer specialising in wine labels, with over 12 years of experience and a WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits.
I’ve created hundreds of labels for independent producers, DTC retailers, and established brands across the globe.
With a background in illustration, I approach wine labels like visual storytelling — capturing a mood, a sense of place, or a moment worth remembering. I often think of wine labels like album covers: not just something to look at, but something that sets the tone before the first sip.
Whether it’s your story, your region’s, or a single idea that inspired the wine, I’ll help bring it to life clearly and confidently. My work blends industry insight with quietly distinctive design that feels honest, considered, and true to each producer.
Got a project in mind? Lets talk.

"I've worked with Matt for around 12 years now, initially when we were both at Naked Wines, and again since I started my own wine business.
I knew Matt would be the best person to help bring my creative ideas to fruition. He always delivers to the brief and usually a little bit further. It has been Matt's extra ideas and touches that has got the final design of the projects we worked together on over the line."
What I offer
I take wine label projects from first idea to print-ready files — guiding you through the creative and technical process so you can go to bottling with confidence.
Whether you’re starting with a rough sketch or a detailed brief, I’ll shape the concept, help navigate compliance, and craft striking, production-ready designs.
I’m well-versed in UK labelling rules, as well as requirements across major markets — including the EU, US, Australia, and New Zealand.
I stay up to date with changes like the new EU digital labelling regulation (2021/2117). If approvals from bodies like the TTB or local DOs are part of your process, I’ll make sure everything’s set up to help that go smoothly.
You’ll receive:
– Final label artwork, built to your printer’s exact specs
– Paper stock advice and supplier recommendations
– Files for specialist finishes (foils, varnishes, embossing, die-cuts)

Once the project’s complete, you’ll get packaged, print-ready artwork — and the freedom to reuse the label for future vintages or campaigns as needed. If you ever want to adapt it for another wine, I’m always happy to help.
