When my mum was little, she discovered a stash of old magazines from the late 1800s — a treasure trove of forgotten imagery. Among them was the perfect picture for this project.

I leaned into the playful idea of cloned grape varietals and used the slogan: “Proudly made using clones.” The design features a hand-written, retro-style logo and a found image of a Victorian man playing chess with himself — early trick photography and a visual pun on duplication.
